QR Pro: QR Code FAQs

What is a QR code?

A QR code is a graphical code that can be scanned by a mobile device camera to easily launch a particular website, app, draft message, or a SalesMail video.

What are QR codes used for?

There are many ways to use QR codes for sales and marketing, recruiting and HR, operations, engagement, and more.  Be sure to check out our Senior Living QR Code Guide and search the Help Center for "qr code ideas" for inspiration.

Where can QR codes be displayed?

QR codes can be added to business cards, brochures, posters, signs, promotional materials, stickers, vehicle decals, digital signage, etc.

Do I have to have a QR code reader app to scan a QR code?

No.  Simply open your phone’s camera and point it at the code for a second or two.  When it recognizes the code, it will present you with a place to click on the QR code.

Can I change which SalesMail video or URL my QR code points to after I have already printed it on something?

Yes.  QR codes that point to a SalesMail video or URL can be updated to point to a new SalesMail video or URL at any point.  You will not have to reprint your QR code.  Simply go to QR Pro, click the edit icon to the right of your code, and choose a new SalesMail video or URL to point to.  The next time the code gets scanned, it will go to your new selection.

Can I change the phone number or message content on a QR code that opens a draft text message?

No.  Text message QR codes are static and you cannot change the phone number or message content after you set it up.  That data actually gets encoded into the QR code.  If you need to change the phone number or message content, you will need to set up a new QR code to use.

Can I change the email address or message content on a QR code that opens a draft email message

No.  Email QR codes are static and you cannot change the email address or message content after you set it up.  That data actually gets encoded into the QR code.  If you need to change the email address or message content, you will need to set up a new QR code to use.

Do scans get tracked on SalesMail or URL QR codes?

Yes.  Every time someone uses their camera to scan your code, a scan will be counted.  You will also be able to see additional engagement analytics on the SalesMail video that you point your QR code to.

Do scans get tracked on QR codes that open an email or text message draft?

No.  Because these types of codes are static and do not point to a website, scans cannot be tracked.

Can I use a different QR code tool to set up a QR code to point to a SalesMail video?

Yes.  You can use a third party QR code tool to point to a SalesMail video using your SalesMail video’s short URL which can be obtained from the SalesMail Desktop Portal.   However, the SalesMail QR Pro tool makes it very easy to choose SalesMail videos to point your QR code to, to change the video your QR code points to at any point in the future, and to see all of your QR code scan tracking and video engagement tracking in one application.  QR Pro provides unlimited codes, scans, and editing.

Can I set up a QR code to point to another team member’s video?

If you are an admin user, QR Pro makes it easy for you to choose a team member’s video to point to.  If you are a corporate user, you will also be able to choose team members’ videos from the communities you have access to.  Standard users will only be able to set up QR codes pointing to their own videos.

Can I set up a QR code using the mobile SalesMail app?

No.  QR codes can only be set up using the QR Pro feature in the SalesMail Desktop Portal.

Does HeartLegacy print QR codes?

No.  But there are many companies out there that allow you to print custom materials (e.g. Vistaprint).  HeartLegacy does not recommend or endorse any particular print company.

Are codes set up in QR Pro dynamic?
The QR codes that open a SalesMail video or a URL are dynamic.  That means they can be changed at a later time.  For example, at any point in the future you can update an existing QR code to point to a new video without having to reprint your QR code.  Another benefit of dynamic QR codes is that you will be able to see how many times they were scanned by someone's phone.

The QR codes that are set up to open a draft text or email message are static.  That means that you cannot change the content (phone, email, message) in the future and will need to set up and print a new QR code if you want to change any of those elements.  You can, however, edit the colors or name of these codes at any time.  Please note that we cannot provide scan counts on static qr codes.

If I created and used a SalesMail QR code from before QR Pro was released, will it still work?

Yes, QR images you downloaded and used before we released QR Pro will continue to work.  They are static (unchangeable) QR codes that point directly to your SalesMail URL.
