Do
- Do smile and show your personality
- Do have a main message in mind before you record.
- Do include movement, smile, wave, whiteboard, etc. in the first three seconds of your recording to capture attention and make people click!
- Do record reusable, yet personal-feeling videos, that you can share over and over again. (e.g. virtual tours of various models/units with a friendly greeting at the beginning)
- Do use a CTA button to drive your recipient to take the next action
- Do turn on 'Do Not Disturb' on your phone so that phone calls and text messages don't interrupt your recording.
- Do turn off auto-lock (if your phone has that setting) so your screen doesn't lock up while you are recording
- Do give the SalesMail app permission to use the camera and mic.
- Do enable push notifications for SalesMail so that you receive push notifications when someone views or comments on your video.
- Do make sure the background area is clutter-free and set up how you want it before you record.
- Do make sure you are in a place with good network connectivity when you are uploading your video to SalesMail
- Do follow SalesMail on social to learn about new features, video ideas, and fun contests.
Don't
- Don't be afraid. Many people are uncomfortable with seeing/hearing themselves on camera and it takes some getting used to. It helps to realize that when you record a video message, people are seeing/hearing the same thing that they would if they were talking to you face-to-face. If it makes you uncomfortable to watch your video back, you can simply approve the video and move on. The more you record, the easier it gets - so practice and play around with it!
- Don't rerecord over and over again to get the "perfect" take. Your videos will feel much more authentic and interesting if you are communicating naturally, which is bound to have some ums or ahs!
- Don't read from a script. People can often tell when you are doing this and the video will not feel as engaging or authentic.
- Don't record a multi-clip video over a long period of time. If your phone puts the SalesMail app to sleep because it has been unused for a long period of time, you may lose progress on your multi-clip video.
