Everything You Need to Know About SalesMail Call To Action (CTA) Buttons!

What is a Call To Action (CTA) Button?

SalesMail Call To Action (CTA) buttons drive your recipients to take ACTION!  You can set up a CTA button for each SalesMail video you create.  CTA buttons are customizable to exactly what text you want displayed on the button and which URL it sends your recipient to when they click it. You can set these buttons up to have recipients schedule an appointment, fill out forms, download move-in information, visit a website or social media site, view a testimonial video on your website...send them to any link you wish.  Your custom CTA button will show up directly beneath your video (see example below) on the viewer site where your recipient watches your video; it does not show up in the email draft you send out.   When the CTA button is clicked, it will open the link in a new browser tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. May I have a different CTA button on each SalesMail video I record?
Yes.  Each SalesMail video you have recorded can have its own CTA settings. For example, you can record a lead follow-up video that has a CTA button allowing the recipient to ‘Schedule a Tour’ and you can record a different SalesMail video for a post-tour follow-up that has a CTA button allowing the recipient to ‘View Our Amenities’.

  2. Can I change the CTA button for a video after I have already set it up?
Yes.  Please note that if at any point in the future you change the CTA settings on a SalesMail video, that is what will be displayed whenever anybody views the video (even people you may have shared the video link with in the past).  In other words, whatever CTA settings you have set up right now are what will show up for anybody who goes to view that SalesMail video.

  3.  Does my CTA button show up in the animated preview that gets emailed to my recipients?
No.  The interactive elements on the SalesMail video such as the CTA button, Comment button, Contact card download and social reaction buttons, only show up once your recipient has clicked the animated preview to view the SalesMail.  Once their web browser opens up where they can view your video, all interactive functionality will be available to them.

  4. How can I tell when somebody clicks a CTA button on one of my videos?

From your SalesMail app on your phone:
    1. Go to the Results screen.  Any videos for which someone has clicked the CTA button will have a number in the area circled in the image below:
    2.    Click the gray arrow to the far right of any video in your results to get to the details screen where the date/time of any opens, views, comments, social reactions, or CTA clicks for your video are displayed.
       From the desktop SalesMail portal:
  1.       Go to 'My Results'
  2.       Sort by the CTA Clicks column as shown below

  3. Click the URL for any of the videos to get to the detailed list where the date/time of any opens, views, comments, social reactions, or CTA clicks for your video are displayed.

CTA Report

The SalesMail Desktop Portal (https://portal.mysalesmail.com) now includes a CTA Button Report to identify videos that contain custom Call To Action (CTA) buttons, how many times those videos were viewed, and how many times the CTA button was clicked.

Admin and Corporate SalesMail users will see the videos with CTA buttons for their entire team and can use the report to identify and reward effective and creative use of CTA buttons, and to look for what type of button text seems to be most effective.

Regular (not admin) SalesMail users will see their own videos with CTA buttons and can use the report to learn which button text is effective and which isn't, so they may refine their button text going forward.

Example:

To access the report log into the portal, click the Reports button on the left, and select the CTA Button Report.

Use the green button on the upper right to change the time frame.  It defaults to "All Time" but can be changed to past 30/60/90 days or you may enter a custom date range.  This will update the report to only show videos that were created during the time frame selected.

There is an export button on the bottom left of the report so that you can export the data to a spreadsheet for your convenience.

Clicking the green arrow on the right hand side of any of the rows will take you to the details screen for that particular video, where you can see the entire history of engagement (opens, views, comments, reactions, clicks) with that particular video.
