What is the difference between an "open" and a "view"?

Views:

A view is tracked when someone opens your SalesMail video in a web browser after clicking the video preview in an email, clicking the video received via text, or clicking a video that is shared on a social media channel or in a social messaging app.  Views, and subsequent engagement with your video, are the ultimate goal of SalesMail so make sure you focus on getting views.

Opens:

An open is tracked when a SalesMail is sent via email (not when sharing on social or via text), using a tracking pixel embedded in the preview image which recognizes when that email is accessed. Keep in mind that opens can be falsely triggered or suppressed, and do not provide an exact number of how many people opened an email with your SalesMail video in it.  For example, virus scanning software, email servers, or proxy servers can trigger an open while "reading" the email before it is delivered to your recipient, resulting in an extra open.  Another example is when a message is sent to a Gmail recipient, an open may be registered as that email hits each one of Google’s server farms around the world.  Additionally, opens can be suppressed by privacy settings/software so sometimes even if a person opened your email it may not register an open. Because open tracking isn't a super accurate number and because the whole point is to get people to WATCH your SalesMail videos, we encourage you to focus on getting views.
